Project School Shine: Lighting Up Learning in Mock Fosimondi Village

We are deeply moved and inspired after Project School Shine in Mock Fosimondi Village, Talai community. We set out to help 28 children, but over 60 eager boys and girls turned up — a clear sign that this community needs and welcomes support for learning. Their bright smiles told us everything: this work matters.

We chose this initiative because education opens doors. Giving a child a school kit is more than handing over supplies — it is lifting confidence, improving attendance, and helping families break the cycle of poverty. We also chose Project School Shine to bring the community together, to show parents that learning is a shared journey, and to link education with care for the land and future jobs for these children.

Each child received comprehensive school supplies including:

• School bags to carry their dreams
• Books and notebooks for capturing knowledge
• Pens, pencils, and rulers for precise learning
• Water bottles to stay hydrated during long school days
• Writing boards for interactive learning

The community response was overwhelming. 17 parents came out to support their children, demonstrating the strong family commitment to education in Talai. We met with the GS Mbelenka Nursery School Chairman and the Chairman of GSS Mbelenka to plan stronger school ties and future collaboration. These meetings will help us build lasting support for learning in Talai.

• ACEF - Africa Climate and Environment Foundation for running a lively Sustainability Station and starting talks with local farmers on regenerative agriculture
• SwarmDec for bringing a fun Bee Awareness Station that stirred curiosity about science and nature

Together we connected school readiness with environmental stewardship and community resilience. This holistic approach ensures that children don't just learn in isolation, but understand their role as future stewards of their community and environment.

The success of Project School Shine in Mock Fosimondi Village shows us that when communities are ready to embrace change, incredible things happen. The enthusiasm of over 60 children, the support of dedicated parents, and the collaboration with local leaders and partner organizations created a foundation for lasting educational impact.

This is just the beginning. Through continued partnership and community engagement, we're building pathways to brighter futures — one school kit, one child, one community at a time.
